Library Instruction

Examples of In-Class Activities

Library instruction can be further enhanced by the inclusion of in-class activities and assignments. These allow students directed work on a particular subject or aspect of information literacy. These are flexible and many can be planned to take a portion of a course period or to be worked on through several in-class library instruction sessions.

Examples of Online Resources

Research guides are one tool which can be used to give students access to a curated list of resources. These guides can include either course or assignment specific information and can be easily updated by librarians should there be additional material you would like included throughout the semester. These guides are accessible via the UHV Library Homepage under the "Guides" icon or by a friendly URL. Linked below are examples of various course guides created for Fall 2022.

We can also create online tutorials. These have embedded videos, webpages, articles, and more with quiz-like answers for students to complete as they work through the tutorial. These can be created on a particular topic or assignment. Results from these tutorials are collected by the librarian and can be sent to faculty in an exported Excel file.
