Formatting a Pamphlet

There are several different ways you can format a pamphlet. Most are printed on the front and back of standard 11x8.5" paper and then folded into thirds. This means that you will have to consider how your content is organized and how it will be viewed from your readers. Traditionally, you would have three panels consisting of the front fold, the first folded page and the back on one page and then the inside may have anywhere from 1-3 panels. The following graphic will help guide you on how to format your design file with the numbered pages showing in what order pages would be read by your reader.

Canva

Canva is a great online easy to use tool for graphic design. Using the free version you can access a variety of templates for projects like pamphlets that can be altered with the information you are sharing. There are charts and graphs available to customize within Canva but they do not support large amounts of data. So depending on the type of data you have, it may be beneficial to create your charts and graphs somewhere like Microsoft Excel and then upload images of those charts within Canva for use in your design.

Publisher

Microsoft Publisher is a useful tool for creating graphic designs but it is a little dated. It provides limited templates and does not provide access to a library of copyright free images like Canva does. you can however, input graphs and charts from Excel files here which is very convenient. Additionally, if you are familiar with Microsoft products like Word or PowerPoint you will likely be familiar with the tools available for design in Publisher.
