A conference commemorating the 60th anniversary of the Korean War was held on the Victoria College and University of Houston-Victoria campus on June 24-26, 2010.
This conference, hosted by the Victoria College/ University of Houston-Victoria Library, featured eleven sessions and nineteen speakers over a three-day period. Sponsors were First Victoria National Bank, Janet Stormont Miller, Wells Fargo Bank, and Victoria Advocate.
Banquet featured speaker: Jim Lehrer, PBS Newshour, VC alumni
Closing luncheon featured speaker: Bill Sloan, Author of The Darkest Summer: The First Three Months of the Korean War
During the conference, oral history interviews with Korean War veterans were conducted by Barbara Parsons Smith and other volunteers. These will be available for research in the Library's Victoria Regional History Center.
