We were asked to make library instruction for First Year Seminar classes more active. To inform about the library and its services, we started the Amazing Library Race.

Based on the tv show, The Amazing Race, student teams race around the library fulfilling the scavenger hunt requirements for booking study rooms, logging into computers, learning the call number scheme, identifying parts of a citation and how to tell a scholarly journal from other publications.

Subsequent class instruction gets down to more academic library instruction, but the pandemonium of the Amazing Library Race sets the groundwork.
